Sense and Sensibility

UK & Ireland Tour - June to September 2016

During the summer of 2016, Rob joined the outdoor theatre company Chapterhouse for their UK and Ireland tour.
The tour saw a group of 8 actors perform two shows in rep, Peter Pan and Sense and Sensability.

Jane Austin's classic Sense and Sensibility was adapted for the stage by Laura Turner and saw Rob multi-roling as Edward Ferris and Sir John.

The show tells the tale of the Dashwood family, who after the death of their father, have to leave their home to their step brother and relocate to Barton park. While there both sisters Elenor and Marianne deal with romance, gossip and secrets.

The show traveled up and down the country pleasing Austin fans as well as newcomers to outdoor theatre. Performing at some of the most beautiful venues the country has to offer, the cast traveled to National parks, English heritage sites and well as privately owned estates.

The cast also took on the challenge of driving around the country and assembling and disassembling the stage and set everyday. The cast were their own stagehands, tech team and chauffeurs. Each new venue was different to the last, so the set might have to change slightly to accommodate the terrain or indeed the weather. On some occasions in Ireland, the weather was so bad that the show had to be moved indoors, and in doing so the layout and staging of the play had to change. Rob was promoted to company manager during the tour and it was one of his responsibilities to help decide how these challenges would be overcome.
